Uber Launches in Branson
Ridesharing Company Launches in Branson
Expanding Safe, Reliable Transportation Options for Residents
(Branson, MO) – Uber today announced it will begin operating in Branson. UberX, the company’s popular ridesharing product, will now be available for local residents. Following the passage of a statewide ridesharing regulation earlier this year, Uber has launched operations in multiple cities across the state.
“Uber’s announcement today marks the work of many state and local leaders,” said Jeff Seifried, President & CEO of the Branson-Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB. “The Chamber, along with many others, advocated in favor of TNC legislation in Jefferson City, with the purpose of attracting Uber to Branson. Uber is a proven job creator and will serve the millions of visitors traveling to Branson, adding more travel convenience to their vacation experience.”
Uber is a technology company that connects riders and drivers through a smartphone application. With Uber, riders can push a button on their phone and get a ride within minutes. Uber partners with pre-screened local drivers who use their personal vehicles to give neighbors a ride on their own schedule, opening up flexible earning opportunities for residents in and around Branson.
“We’re thrilled to expand today to the Branson are, just in time for Memorial Day festivities. We look forward to seeing how Uber can extend economic opportunities and transportation options for both residents and visitors,” said Andy Hung, Uber General Manager of Missouri and Kansas.
In places where Uber operates, riders rely on the service to access reliable, affordable transportation whenever they need it. Whether it’s an early morning airport drop-off or a late night ride home after an evening out at the local bars, Uber helps riders get where they need to be at the push of a button.
To celebrate the launch, Uber is offering new users up to $20 off their first ride. Users can enter BRANSONLOVE into the app to redeem the offer beginning on Friday, May 19th at 12pm.
Here’s how Uber works:
- First, download the free Uber app for iOS, Android or Windows Phone.
- Then, create an account using your email address and phone number, and add your payment information.
When you’re ready to go, open the app and enter your destination in the “Where To” bar. You can do so by:
- Searching for the name of a place
- Entering an address, or;
- Setting a pin
Once you’ve determined the ride details, just tap ‘Request.’ When your driver is on the way, you’ll see:
- Your driver’s picture and name
- Picture of the vehicle, and make and model
- Car’s license plate number
You can also watch the driver travel to your location on the app’s map. That way, you know you’re getting in the right car with the right driver. If you need to get in touch, you can call or text your driver through the Uber app.
When you arrive at your destination, just hop out—the cost of your trip will be charged automatically to the payment method on file.
After every trip, you can rate your experience and provide anonymous feedback about your driver. Should you need to get in touch, the in-app support feature is there to help.
Over the next few weeks, Uber will be onboarding Branson residents interested in flexible earning opportunities driving with Uber. For more information and to sign up as a driver, see https://www.uber.com/drive/.
Uber’s mission is to bring reliable transportation to everywhere, for everyone. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get a ride at the touch of a button? Six years and more than two billion trips later, we’ve started tackling an even greater challenge: reducing congestion and pollution in our cities by getting more people into fewer cars.
